Primary Care for the whole family.

LexCare's primary care services provide comprehensive, continuity-based care for individuals and families — from routine wellness visits and sick care to chronic disease management and preventive health.

As your primary care provider, Alexis coordinates your complete health picture, orders and interprets labs through our LabCorp partnership, manages referrals, and ensures your physical and mental health care are always working together.

Annual Wellness & Preventive Care

Comprehensive annual exams, health screenings, immunizations, and age-appropriate preventive care for patients of all ages.

Sick & Acute Visit Care

Prompt evaluation and treatment for infections, injuries, flu, UTIs, respiratory illness, and other acute health concerns.

Referral Coordination

Specialist referrals managed and coordinated directly from your primary care visit, with continuity maintained throughout your care journey.

Ages 5 & Up — PMHNP-BC Certified

Mental health care that is clinically rigorous.

LexCare's psychiatric services provide expert evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults — treating mental health with the same clinical depth as any medical condition.

Alexis uses a trauma-informed, whole-person approach — integrating mental health care with your primary care whenever possible for truly coordinated treatment. Pediatric patients ages 5–17 require a parent or guardian present at all visits.

Psychiatric Evaluation & Diagnosis

Comprehensive initial evaluation to assess mental health history, symptoms, and needs — resulting in an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan.

Medication Management

Thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing with regular follow-up visits to monitor effectiveness, adjust dosing, and minimize side effects.

Psychotherapy Add-On

Brief psychotherapy integrated into your medication management visit — providing therapeutic support alongside psychiatric treatment in the same appointment.

Trauma-Informed Care

All psychiatric care at LexCare is delivered through a trauma-informed lens — recognizing the impact of past experiences on current health and wellbeing.

LexCare offers secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth visits for both primary care and psychiatric services — available to patients across North Carolina.

Telehealth visits are conducted through a secure video platform and offer the same quality of care as in-person visits. Scheduling, intake, and payment are all handled through our patient portal for a seamless experience.

Superbills Provided: Self-pay patients receive a superbill for potential reimbursement through out-of-network insurance benefits.

Lab Services: Labs ordered through LabCorp partnership. Lab fees are separate and billed directly — no hidden markups.

LexCare Integrated Health was created to make care feel more connected, personal, and practical. As a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Alexis Edwards brings together medical and mental health care in one patient-centered setting.

Born and raised right here in Elizabeth City, Alexis began her nursing journey at the College of the Albemarle — graduating twice as both an LPN and RN. She also earned her BS in Chemistry from ECSU, her BSN and MPH from Capella University, and her dual FNP-BC and PMHNP-BC from Walden University.
